Sorry, it is not possible to know exactly. We know that during his childhood and adolescence Volta lived in Contrada di Porta Nuova, which was renamed via Alessandro Volta after his death. We are also certain that he lived on this street as a young man because Gattoni himself writes "with a hundred steps I was at Volta's house"and the tower is located nearby. Volta, now in his sixties, after a life full of travel and university commitments at the University of Pavia, finally bought the house that stands today at number 62 of Via Volta and lived there for about twenty years until his death.
